PayDay Cut Off Date

Im due to start a new job, and I need to decide my start date.
But to help with this... I wondered, does anyone know:
1) Firstly, when I start the job will I get paid in 1st month? Or will I have to wait for the following month , regardless of start date.
2) Approximately, When will cut off date be for a Payday due on last working day of month?
3) Is this the sort of Question I can just ask a new employer in advance? (Dont wanna seem like I just care about money - tho we all do!)
Im considering whether to start around the middle of month. (13th - 16th) of month. So I can sneak in a brief 2 week holiday between jobs.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes, definitely, personally, ask new employer - up front, anything your not sure of, saves embarrassment and inconvenience, trust me!
Nothing worse then finding out when it's to late, I'd lost some overtime worked because I didn't ask and we were playing to a different set of rules to the one even the Team Leader wasn't aware of so we all had a right old waah yesterday!
You can also be treated differently in a probation period to when you are outside it - different rules from allowed to book holiday, being paid for medical appointments and making time up which I hadn't come up against until nowthat said this is my longest job of 2014! can't forget that!

The only one relevant to us - especially as we don't know the nature of the employer - is no 3. And the answer is Yes.
Ask them. Those questions are not out bounds or odd.0 -
Of course you can ask your employer. I went from weekly pay to monthly pay and was worried about pay dates, I emailed the HR contact and she sent me a list of cut off dates and pay dates for the year, plus stat holidays so I knew well in advance what holidays the company took etc.Feb 2024:
