yesterday i pegged out my two loads of washing in the lovely weather. Usually anything that is safe to, goes in the tumble dryer(except towels).
BUT i've ended up with nearly 3-4 times as much ironing to do.
So is it cheaper and greener to stand ironing than tumble drying(excluding all the extra damm work for me!!)

stick the washing back in the tumble dryer and find other ways to cut back on energy expenditure.yesterday i pegged out my two loads of washing in the lovely weather. Usually anything that is safe to, goes in the tumble dryer(except towels).

if you fold it as soon as it comes out of the washer (the minute the cycle stops!) and then peg it out ensuring everything is nice and spaced along you shouldn't need to iron much of it. Those that need a boost can go in the dryer for 5 minutes when you bring it in, making sure you fold it neatly as soon as the machine stops.
I never iron!0 -
That's odd - I used to find I had next to no ironing to do when I was able to line dry my clothes. Hang them up by the hem (for shirts) or ankles (for trousers) and gravity will pull the wrinkles out! This is because the waistband puts more weight on the garment and pulls it straight. I guess its a case of 'you dont miss the water til the well runs dry'. Myself, I dont own a tumble drier, and never have. Ive always placed my clothes on a line or on a horse, and tbh I wouldnt want one either. Same applies to a dishwasher, theyre my pet hate. Some dishes you have to pre soak before washing, then theres loading the thing, then the cycle, then unloading, or in some cases a lot of people dont. I dont fancy leaving dishes in a hot damp environment, think of the bacteria (why do you think your dishwasher stinks and you need to get cleaning products, bacteria) 10 mins with a sponge and some fairy and its sorted! A lot nicer to the environment too

Ironing - if you minimise what you can - by shaking out items & hanging them up (I put stuff straight onto coat hangers wherever possible) - then my tip would be to iron while listening to something good on the radio (like something from the radio 4 comedy website?), or half watching your favourite soap.
Remember as well, though it is still a chore, you'll also benefit from a bit more exercise!:: No unapproved links in signatures please - FT ::0 -
Ironing is evil !!! I phsycially cannot iron, it makes me ill !!! Unlike my Mother who has been known to iron shoe laces before now!
I'm afraid I tumbledry everything - when we lived in the flat the 3 flights of stairs down to the line put me off, that and the spate of 'jean' thefts we had when a certain group of people moved to the area.
I have no Central Heating and can't have damp clothes lying about because of my chest...I try to make it up to the environment in other ways!!
