First Time Buyer -Quest for Mortgage

Hiya :)

I've recently been rejected for a mortgage by HSBC :( at the time the advisor said the rejection was due to their internal calculations, which of course meant nothing to me, but at the time I was really quite upset (understandably!) and just wanted to get off the phone! I am continuing my enquiries into why it was rejected, etc.

My deposit is a family gift from my parents and grandmother (was 13000 for initial HSBC application, but is now 17000) on a property with an accepted offer of 107,500. I have been in full time employment for 10 months earning 21000 pa. I have a poor experian credit rating, caused mainly by having no history of credit (no credit cards) and also from multiple recent enquiries as to my credit rating (comparison websites etc).

My next step is to try a local building society instead of a large lender, and have an appointment tomorrow at Leek United.

Just after any advice that anyone has, and basically some moral support, because the HSBC rejection has really knocked my confidence, as I was under the impression that they were one of the best lenders at the moment.

Thanks guys :)

Not quite sure how the leap from HSBC to Leek United makes any practical sense.

You need someone to handle this for you professionally rather than add to your frustration and waste your time with pot luck.

    Engage a mortgage broker.
