I have worked in Occupational Health within the NHS and know of at least one Health Care Assistant who was deaf and she went on to take her training and now works as a Band 5 staff nurse. It can be done, but requires active and willing collaboration from your tutors and the ward managers. Unfortunately (despite legislation) this is sometimes not forthcoming.
If you are severely impaired by your hearing loss it may be that too many adjustments would need to be made to the working environment. For instance, would you be able to cope if left on your own in charge of the ward.
There are many options within the NHS that you can look at - assistants are used within Physio, OT, Dietetics, Radiology etc.
I hope you find something that will suit you.
