Hi all,
My husband suffers with depression and anxiety and has just handed in his notice at work after ongoing issues with workload, stress etc. Rather than trying to find him another office job and finding ourselves in the same position I am hoping he could make some money from home whilst he gets help with his depression/anxiety.
Has anyone used People per Hour and is it tricky? I'm not clear on how the payment works and if it might get difficult with tax returns etc? My husband studied Accounting for a couple of years and is excellent with numbers, word documents, Excel etc so would be much better at that than me but I don't want to get him into something that he couldn't managing relatively easily.
Many thanks!

I'm self employed and I occasionally use the site. I've made about £5,000 on there, mostly doing writing work and picked up a few regular clients who've kept me on, so it certainly is possible to make a living on there.
Basically, your husband will need to bid for any jobs that take his interest. Basically,he will need to send a message with details of his experience, how long it will take him to complete the job, why he's the best person etc. and a price. If selected, the employer will deposit a percentage of that price into an escrow account and he can get started with the job.
Once the work is delivered, he can raise an invoice which must be paid within the specified time.
Hope this helps

Forgot to say, if you have any more questions, feel free to PM me and I'll try to help. I'm by no means an expert, but I have used the system a fair bit.0

I dont have anything useful to add but I wish you's all the best and my heart goes out to him as its not a very nice position to be in when you feel worried and stressed0 -
The first thing you might struggle with is lack of reputation.
You will need to win a few bids and undercut your competition to win jobs at first.
I am picky with any work I take on, but what I make now is good extra income.
Setup your profile, but join it with linkedin and so on. Build up a reputation, and you will find that you will get regular customers/reccomendations etc.
It might seem a bit daunting at first, but anything worth doing is worth putting in the effort. If it was easy, everyone would do it!
All the best.0 -
I've used it before. I agree with what DireEmblem said, he may need to take some low paying jobs to build his rep there but as long as he is prepared it can be a really good way of making money. Good luck to him!0
