Help with coming to end of bk period and what next

A couple of things I am unsure about. Firstly does my bankruptcy period end six years from my the date of discharge or the date when it was filed at the court/entered into it.

I believe I filed for bankruptcy 31 Dec 2010. Will I also have to wait until that date before I can start to clean up my credit file.

6 years from the date you were declared BR is when it will fall off your credit files, your BR actually ended when you were discharged which would have been 12 months after you were declared BR or earlier if you were given ED, unless your BR was extended.

No you can do that now, I did mine a couple of months after my discharge date

Hope this helps? If you search the forums you will find all the answers you require:)

In normal course of events the bankruptcy would have been discharged at the end of one year. So 32 Dec 2011.

It would stay on your credit reports for 6 years from the date of the original bankruptcy order, so until 31 Dec 2016.

Check your credit file and clean it up now to ensure that by 2017 all old accounts have dropped off.
