I've worked in a place when voluntary redundancies were offered. I don't think anyone taking that decision makes it lightly. It can be the right thing to do for some people. Everyone circumstances are different.
Where I worked, the end of final salary pensions was imminent and for a lot of older people, the VR route was by far the most lucrative one.

I've not used windows 8, but from previous experience of windows...
if you put the blank disc in, go to "my computer"or it's maybe called "computer" in the start menu. You should see the blank disc, right click on it (or try double clicking if that doesn't work) and you might see a number of options, one of which should be to burn a disc...
If this works it should open a folder which you can click and drag stuff into to burn onto the disc.
