Finally got my mum on the tcb wagon yesterday. Although I had to sit there and do it all myself.

House insurance from £140 down to £42 and £22.50 CB .

And I referred her. All good. She was amazed :D

My house insurance was better than free this year. They messed up with a direct debit - which I was moving from one current account to another then back again in order to hit the triggers for the various account interest rates. Mistake was theirs (of course they had had plenty of notice to get it all right) - so got a goodwill compensation payment from them. (I think they got confused - I wasn't:D and I gave them all the right info. at the right time.) Bank also looked into it - although not their fault, also gave me a goodwill payment and £10 for the interest I had lost. So two goodwill payments of about £75 each, plus the tenner was retrieved.:rotfl::D:D I'm well pleased!:money::money:

Yeah I remember that from the time. These things re-emerge don't they - when you search for stuff now, you find news articles that you never saw at the time and that look like they were written today - then you find they are several months old:rotfl::rotfl:. You may remember - a week ago? - me talking about how the (wider) public are just plain wrong - well, I found an article about that afterwards and then discovered it had been published some while ago!!

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/british-public-wrong-about-nearly-everything-survey-shows-8697821.html

Says exactly what I was saying last week (or whenever), unbeknown to me this article had been published. (Told you so --- again!:D:p:rotfl:)

Re-reading that Clarkson article (from 'years' ago) now, I wonder if Data Protection Act being used there as a smokescreen excuse?
