OK....I think this is correct 6a is highest in level 6s which is highest for that year....level 7c....would be what they would expect you to be in year 8 ....7a being the higher and 7b being average .........but I could be wrong lol.
My dd is doing SATs this week ,she's in year 6 doing level 5s 6 tests.
I think that is about right,
Any children assessed as suitable for grammer school (11+) should leave primary school with level 5 a,b or c across the board. Some children in year 6 will get a level 6 assessment if their school allows assessment upto level 6 (not all do).
Once you get to secondary school there are no caps on what level you can get in each year.
All children are expected to climb a sub level per term (3 sub levels a, b and c, based on a 3 term a year system) So if your daughter has gone up 2 sub levels (or more) (so far) since leaving primary school then she is on the right track.
Edit:- sorry, I hadn't seen all the replys with the answer in for you!RISEABOVEHATE

Does she not have targets set at the beginning of the year? My kids have end of year target levels and end of key stage target levels.
I don't know what the expected levels for year 7 are. My DS is in year 7 but as he has learning difficulties, his levels are obviously lower. His range from 3c up to 5a. 6 & 7 sounds about right though for expected levels.
Hope that makes a bit of sense, although I've not explained it very wellI'll try.:o
Level 7 is higher than a level 6.
Then the abc. A is the highest , B the middle and C the lowest.
When a child leaves primary school at 11 (yr6) they say the average is a 4B , for maths and english, so you should be able to work from that and compare you daughters scores.
Hope that helps.
Thanks peeps!
For example, DD2 has a target grade for maths of 8c by end of year 8. She got 7b in her exam. What are the target grades based on? And do they correlate to GCSE grades at all? It all seems unnecessarily confusing :eek:0 -
I think he's suggesting you have some private time with your new bag!

Somehow a box turned up in my bag of goodies from Dodo today, I am sure I gave her some in the first place. :rotfl:
Is that the cranberry fudge tiger, my store finally had some on the shelf at the weekend, but when I scanned it on wall scanner it said contact member of staff so I didn't take it to the checkout.

I'm trying to book a nice dinner for our 10th wedding anniversary (in Aug - eek!). The best meal i have ever had was about 12 years ago, at Le Gavroche. Wow, I can still remember everything I ate. I'm such a foodie and love Michel Roux Jr. Anyway, going to try for there, only 35 mins on the train from me. Will spend the afternoon boozing in a posh hotel (without children!!!:j) then go for dinnerTiger
