Dont worry it wont hurt at all. I had 4 eye ops in 2003 ( 3 detached retinas and a cataract ) and did not feel a thing. Mind you I freaked out on the table for the 1st one and had to wait overnight for a general anaesthetic. I too did load of research and got upset as they had to do a sceral buckle where they sew a piece of silicon onto eye to push it in towards the detached retina to help to help it stick but although it was painful it saved my sight. Put your trust in them. We have great eye hospitals in this country and the surgeon who did 2 of mine is the leading professor in stem cell research for macular degeneration in this country so count myself lucky.
