Anyone recently applied for a mortgage with Leeds Building Society?

We've finally put the reservation down on our new build and our IFA has advised that Leeds currently have the best Help to Buy deal at 2.5%.

We completed most of the paperwork last night and got the initial AIP. IFA has proof of id, last 3 months wage slips, P60's and we've just printed off last 3 months bank statements.


All we apparently need is the approval from HTB in order to proceed - we need to reservation form to do this so will pick this up tomorrow when we go to see the builder and sign everything.


Just looking for anyone's thoughts/experience of them?

You cannot proceed to a mortgage application until you have Authority to Proceed from the HTB Agent. That will take up to 5 days from reservation.

I was with Leeds Building Society before. Good customer service but quite slow to process things, and they will not give you any decent remortgage deals at the end of your term.

Thanks. The Htb application has been submitted so fingers crossed that comes back quickly so we can proceed with the mortgage app.

Approximately how long did it take from application to approval?

I recently took out a buy to let mortgage with Leeds. It was a relatively simple case. It took 6 weeks from app to Mortgage offer & that included Xmas & New Year.

Leeds is quite slow. In my case, they kept coming back asking for additional documents, back to three years!?!? No idea why.

Not TOO bad perhaps. Looks like about six weeks from the time of full application - if they'd asked for all the docs up front it would have been around four weeks I reckon.

Thanks all - I've flagged this to our IFA as he's not dealt with them in a while but says he's finding most of them quite slow at the moment with the new MMR rules.

Hi Kixxb - just wondering if you have received an offer from Leeds? We've just applied for a mortgage.
