Virgin Money / existing customers

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a quick search and couldn't find it.

-- was wondering if anyone knew anything about Virgin Money customer retention rates. Our 5 yr fix, initially with Northern Rock, then taken over by Virgin Money is shortly coming to an end. SVR is currently higher than our fixed rate and so would be keen to move onto a new product. House value approx £200,000 (based on nearby sales), mortage required about £40,000 (no additional borrowing wanted), no missed payments on the mortgage or anywhere else. Our only other debt is £50/month to dfs. Outgoings are the usual - insurances, bills, etc ...

Struggling to find detailed info online. Obviously will give them a ring soon, but wondering if anyone had any info, before I have to go through the whole rigmarole after digging up my documents and account number/details/etc!!!

I just cannot understand posts like this. Why would anyone (and I see it often) post and risk completely inaccurate replies when they can contact the lender and receive a definitive answer?

Why is a person asking for other people's experiences and looking for some support so hard to understand?

I am stuck in the office all day, can't make outgoing personal calls, haven't had the time to turn my house upside down to look for the paperwork when I'm home, so sitting here in my office wondering about mortgages and Googling around a bit. After work, more things to do, more chores, home by 8pm -

Why should I not ask if anyone else has recently been through this and what their experience might have been? It doesn't change anything in my life other than perhaps some emotional reassurance and stop me sitting here wondering what might be while having no clue at all .. or perhaps a warning of "make sure you have XYZ documents ready when you call them as they will ask you 123 question" ...

**deleted because I am clearly getting emotional**

If anyone want to share what rates had other exiting customers have been offered, I'd be grateful. Unfortunately their telephone opening hours are useless to me so it will be a while. Noticed they only open at 10 at weekend and close very early, so that's scuppred too.
  • Hi Soot2006, if you have a look at the link I posted you'll see that you can find the details of their current rates online.

What other customers of their may or may not have had up to now is largely irrelevant as they will change rates fairly frequently.
