hi all, i am currently a mortgage customer with HBSC and would like to get a joint mortgage with my partner so that we can live together.
I rang HSBC and asked how i might go about getting consent to let and they said that they wouldn't if i was buying another property. They'd only do it on a short-term basis if I had to work away or something.
So, do i just tell them i've got to work away for a while, or relocating, or will the consent to let have that stipulated in it, and so void the mortgage if i then went and bought one with my partner anyway?

You can tell them what you choose to, but you should remember - they have probably already logged that you called them telling them you wish to move to a new home and rent the current property out.
Giving incorrect information to HSBC regarding your mortgage is of course fraudulent.
The Lender on your new property will most likely ask you to confirm you have consent to let from HSBC.I am a Mortgage Broker

Making a false declaration is fraud. Lenders share data on such borrowers through an organisation called National Hunter which is run for them by Experian. Being registered on there would impact you financially in the widest sense.
