  • I was just about to place an order for a few bits with CD-WOW until I selected a region 2 version of Last Samurai which them came up with a warning about the regions. The nature of this warning made me then think that these goods are coming from the USA (or somewhere else).

Do they come from abroad or not?

How do they handle the import charges, etc for goods over £18 (the point at which costs are incurred) - my order is likely to be close to £30?

I'm not likely to make a saving if I have to pay xyz% in costs!!

    Anyone got experience of this?

I have ordered from CD-Wow many times over the past few years - excellent service. Each CD/DVD comes out under separate packaging, which generally brings the value below the limit (I haven't had any problems and have ordered around 20 items over the past few years - generally at christmas).

Their packages come from Hong Kong (sometimes elsewhere) but even over Christmas they arrived before some letters posted first class within the UK - generally within 3 days.

  • I asked their Customer Services about the Import fees and was told they guarantee that there would be no fees regardless of the cos tof the DVD/Game/CD etc

  • can confirm the nokia voucher worked (few time ;D)

    thanks!
  • Just so you know I redeemed the Nokia Voucher on 2 separate transactions today on the permanent discount site, saving £1.75 on each CD..not bad I thought! I used 2 different hotmail addresses to claim the voucher and made up a random 10 digit code as membership number. Crazy! Good luck all having the same success!!
  • Try CDjungle.com first as most of their chart CD's are £7.99 with free delivery, better than CD Wow.  Also if you are registered with Greasy palm you can get 2% cash back when you link to it through them.

I usually now pricecheck CD-Wow, Play.com & CDjungle when I want a cd. CDjungle was cheapest a few months ago for something but you have to be a bit more patient as their delivery is rather slower.

  • You're not kidding about being slow. It tends to take over a week to get to you, but I was unfortunate last Christmas and when it hadn't arrived after 2 weeks, i emailed them, told to wait a further week, when it hadn't arrived they told me they would send another out, that didn't arrive, they then tried to accuse me of stealing and pretending it hadn't arrived, so wouldn't send one out to me until they did a search on the tracking system they had. Eventually 2 months after order I got it, and it was too late for Christmas. I'm probably unfortunately, but I'll never use them again due to the lack of aftersales support.

CD Wow are brilliant, and I am happy to pay the little extra.

Its due to the amount involved - can't remember the exact amount, but anything under around £15 is duty free.

Amazon seem to have got on the game now, and are using Jersey for anything under the magic amount. So might be worth a look if you are hunting for CDs/DVDs.
  • was browsing cd-wow and it was cheapest for the new harry potter dvd- only £13.74 with free P&P, great i though then remembered i had seen a code on here, came to the original post on here- went and found the dvd and suddenly the price was £13.99 :o >:( with the link it turned out to be £13.24 but only saving 50p not the 75p i thought i would, i know its only 25p difference but when they are giving us an offer i dont expect them to add a little bit on the price first- oh well ordered anyway- just wondered if anyone else had noticed this happen??????????
    QUIDCO- £88.99p :D

Tha mount you talk about is £18. However when I contacted CDWOW about an expensive box set they said "Any item regardless of cost will be exempt from import duties". They guaranteed it.

And I got the boxset with no import fees.
