I hope she has to, I've gone mental as it were and said the companies who con people rely on clowns who don't read the basics. That didn't go down well

At least you were honest with her rather than do what many people do and refuse to admit they are in any way liable.

It's got a huge banner on the home screen screaming £69.95 fee.
The companies themselves I don't agree with, as they don't find a loan but just take the £70 in what I see is a very underhand manner.
But tbh it's all there in plain view, if you get conned it's your own fault IMO

She's now on the phone to Halifax, will update

Well, she's had to close her bank account, and now trying to get another is very tricky.
Barclays basic account is nothing like what they advertise, can't do direct debits from it for example
Going to try the Co op now

As an aside, anyone recommend a bank which just does a normal account as in pay money in, direct debits etc but don't need any overdraft or anything like that

There is a link about half way down this thread https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/basic-bank-accounts which leads to a comparison table of basic bank accounts and the facilities etc they offer. The majority allow DDs to be set up.
