I won a laptop with Currys PC World. But....

Hi Friends,
I was picked as winner in Currys competition.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4937501
I sent my details and they said prize would be with me shortly.
I have screenshots of the relevant messages.
It has not arrived.
28 days later (today) I phoned them and the chap did not even know they had a Facebook page!!
He said he would try and find out and phone back. And nothing has happened.
I have sent 2 msgs after sending my details and no response.
Are they notoriously bad at sending out prizes? Shall I just keep waiting?
What advice would the reader of this give?
Thanks.

Some large companies are awful at sending prizes, I waited 3 months for a radiator from B&Q.
I would message them on the Facebook page at first.
If they sent you a confirmation email I would also reply to that.
Hope it turns up soon0 -
I would tweet them and leave a message on their page. Some companies can be incredibly laid back when sending prizes out....hope you receive it soon x0

Good advice - and don't let this take the edge off your win.
I won an i-pod shuffle which was sent out by Currys/PC World to my address but with someone else's name on it. I knew what it was but, rightly, the delivery guy wouldn't let me take it. So it had to go back, be readdressed in my name and sent back to me. So, persist and enjoy it when you receive it!Still cracking on....
Wins in 2019: 28 prizes realised value £278:eek:
Wins in 2018: 59 prizes realised value £1,818:coffee:
Wins in 2017: 53 prizes realised value £2,556:j
Wins in 2016: 51 prizes realised value £790
Wins in 2015: 81 prizes realised value £2,065 :beer:0 -
It has now arrived. But it is neither of the prizes advertised in the Currys FB post. It is a Pavilion x2. Lesser value and specification.
Do I complain about this or just accept a reasonable win. It is nice, with the removable tablet feature but not as powerful as the one I thought I had won.:j0 -
What a shame, I bet it takes away a lot of the joy of the win.
They wouldn't run the comp if they didn't expect to get at least the value of the prize back in some form or another, so they'll have budgeted for the laptop they advertised.
Sounds like they are being cheap - you won that prize fairly and deserve the right model; get complaining!2014 - First win £50 book token :j0 -
I would complain, probably via their FB page or twitter. Companies should not be able to get away with not fulfilling their commitments. It is a great win anyway but not as described.0

I would take the line that they sent the wrong HP by mistake.
Both have "HP X2" in the product description.
Prizes are listed here
did they say which prize you had won ?
Refer to the prize list above (take an offline copy for yourself) and ask if they sent the wrong one.
Stuff is more quickly sorted if you give them everything they need to make the decision.
btw I'm #jealous0 -
Yea tweet them x0

I hope it's just a genuine mistake but be aware from the terms and conditions:
The promoter reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if, in the promoter's sole discretion, a competition is not capable of being conducted as specified.0 -

That's true but because it is an inferior prize the ASA would uphold this I feel certain,MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOUR0
