So just to clarify:
The bank gave you the wrong info (your parents cant borrow enough)
You came here and was advised by a broker to speak face to face to local broker
The broker you actually spoke to gave several solutions, one of which included to speak to the bank again
On going back to the bank with the information from the broker the bank than managed to lend you (your parents) enough money.
If ever there was a case as to why using a professional broker was important......
Ultimately though, well done, and I hope they enjoy the new house
