Wanted Cheap Printer

Hi

Looking to buy a cheap printer.

Cheap Ink Cartridges a must

I've been using a Cannon IP1000 Pixma

£2.50 for Ink Cartridges!

Don't want another Cannon Pixma it's got hidden costs called ink waste absorber and you have to buy a new one every time it's full.

So i want a cheap printer, that takes cheap ink, with no hidden costs.

Thanks for your help, to all that reply!

Terry, have you tried re-setting it. Googling your problem indicates you can get the printer working again by unplugging mains to switch off, then power back on whilst holding power and/or resume buttons down.

Epson are the only other cheap compatible ink printers but suffer from a similar widely reported problem, where the pipes to the mat at bottom of printer (for waste ink) get blocked with dried ink and printer stops printing without warning. At least the Cannon printers can be re-set, with no need to dismantle.

The waste ink absorber is a mat that dries out so cannot get full.

    Hi.

Yes i could do that, but it's old now and makes so much noise when using it.

Thanks for checking them sites for info.

    Much appreciated.

Try this utility for some epsoms

Another printer manufacturer to consider is Brother. Carts are cheap for these too.

if youre only doing black and white, laser printers are cheaper to run, the samsung ML was on here a while back for around £40 quid, with re-fillable cartridge

To the op if you are ok with resetting pixma's waste ink tank counter after reading checking out the links that dc posted then how about the pixma 1800.
It has been getting very good reviews and can be bought for just over 20 quid. I too am wary of hidden costs but would go for this one if I only I could find any compatible cartridges.
