Looking for any comments or feedback about BUDGENS please.

What's GOOD to buy? What to avoid? Value for money items?

Do they have "Offers of the week" etc? Own brand?

It just that I've got £100 worth of vouchers to spend there, my nearest store will be a 30 mile round trip and I don't want to "waste" them buying anything that is half the price in ASDA or similar.

TIA

Presumably you've looked at their website:

    http://www.budgens.co.uk/

    which lists a few offers.

    Yes I had previously looked

Sadly not a significant lot on view.

From what I can see it is about 30% to 50% more than the same products in ASDA.

Even the TESCO "Price Match" seems to be a farce ..... unless it isn't fully explained here or shown correctly

eg. Walkers 6 x 25g Multipack Crisps - £1.68 (as they are in Tesco) **

BUT in Tesco they are 3 for £4 - At Budgens 3 packs appear to be £5.04

    Perhaps someone can confirm ?

(Wonder if they can be brought to task on this "Price Match" offer with Trading Standards or the ASA ? Seems "dodgy" to me)

On "this basis" my £100 would be worth "under" an £80 shop at Tesco and probably less at ASDA

    **Edit update

Just noticed that it says "Tesco price shown is from Tesco website on: 07/04/14"
The 3 for £4 is "valid from 23/4/2014 until 6/5/2014"

... so who knows how much 3 bags will cost

I'm afraid you ain't gonna find any great bargains in Budgens, it's a shop of last resort IMO.

    I've been Money Tipped!
it's really expensive on a par with waitrose without the basic items. sometimes they have beer for a quid a bottle and wine for a fiver or even less but not much else really! I won $50 a while ago and bought mostly wine/beer and frozen food; with some special offer chocolate. obviously magazines and newspapers are a standard price and maybe they sell stamps/phone top up etc??

Budgens - only shop there when I am too lazy to travel further afield. Stuff always seems expensive.
