Halifax - Mortgage conditions/criteria/ TCs and Cs ?

Hi all,

Reading so many brilliant stories about how fast Halifax are with the processing of mortgage applications so I am considering applying for a mortgage with them as Accord are so slow anyway....

But I read somewhere that one of their criteria is that they will not accept you if you haven't lived in the country for at least 3 years. We have been in the UK for 2.5 years, wife is British, I am a EU National...

Can anyone confirm that this is one of their criteria, I cannot find anything about it on their website, maybe I am just blind?

I don't think this is the case. The criteria is at http://www.halifax-intermediaries.co.uk/criteria/default.aspx

We are using a broker (the "independent" mortgage adviser of the building company) and they immediately selected Accord before they even had all our details... I think their selection was made purely based on the best initial interest fee for an 85% LTV but it didn't seem like they took anything else in account... which is one of the reasons why I am very nervous and uneasy about this.

I assume the broker gets some kind of very attractive kickback from Accord, more attractive then from other lenders perhaps?
