Hi all going bankrupt in next fee weeks. Wondered if anyone had experience of what O2 do when bankrupt. I'm not in arrears and never have been late paying. Will contact just continue as normal?

It is not unknown for a contract handset to cease working after a BR notice is shown on the credit file. You need to look at the T&Cs you agreed to. It will be spelt out what they will do - even if you keep up payments they can still cancel due to non-disclosure. When this happens any chance of a PAC disappears.

Checked terms and conditions and it does state that they will cancel contract if bankrupt. Only have 6 months left of a 2 year contract. Happy to go pay as you go but worried that the iPhone handset I have would be blocked by them??bankrupt may0 -

Really? I had no idea that this could happen. When I went through my income and expenditure with stepchange we talked about mobile phone contracts because I have 2 (one for my daughter) and they didn't mention that this would be an issue.
I think i need to check my EE contract now.0 -
hi when I was bankrupt I was with o2 and never had a problem, just carried on paying monthly and been with them ever since0

Hi - same as you - contract with months to run when I went BR - never owed EE a penny and never missed a payment on 2 mobile contracts. As far as I am aware - they never even noticed I was BR. Few months later I re-newed with EE and got an upgraded handset - no one even mentioned BR. However, I wouldn't have tried to get a contract with any other provider - I was fairly sure if I did that I would fail at the first hurdle of a credit check.0

No problems for me either with O2. I've always kept payments up to date and they have never mentioned BR if I have had to speak to them.
My contract is due for renewal in July and I'm not AD until September. I will try to renew it and see what happens.0 -
I didn't mention my mobile phone to to the OR and I didn't mention my BR to my phone provider. I just kept paying as normal. I didn't owe them money though and have never missed a payment. I even upgraded a few weeks after BR but bought a second hand phone myself and changed to a SIM only contract and halved my monthly spend. So far everything is fine. I wouldn't have gone to a different provider though because of credit checks. Apparently with an upgrade there are no credit checks - well, there can't be because I got through ok.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65

Hi , Just before I went BR , I had closed an account early with O2 , and had an outstanding bill with them , I had also just took out a new O2 contract (basically for a better tariff and new handset. Then when I went BR the OR included the outstanding bill from O2 in my list of creditors.
I have still go my new account running with 02 now 9 month later with no issues and O2 have cleared the outstnading amount from my old contract under my BR.
So if i think you should be fine.0
