Residential Home into assisted living accomodation

Hi

I have a residential house that is very large and am finding it difficult to rent out, i have heard about individuals changing residential homes into assisted living accommodation , does anyone know what the procedures are to do this? or has anyone any experience of doing this... would really appreciate your help.

Thanks:j

    Why not sell the house?

Do you mean turning your private residential house into a residential care home? If so, for what client group? (Elderly, learning disabilities etc) Or are you talking about trying to rent it out as a house of multiple occupancy? It is not clear from the above and they are very different things!

    thanks for your responses

i do not want to sell as the property is in a regeneration area and i would not be making any profit so would like to look at alternatives,

I am looking to turn it into supported housing for people with learning needs or elderly with care / support needs. i have a vague recollection of a conversation i had with someone a long time ago whereby i was informed that turning the accommodation into supported housing would then enable me to make better use of the house and increase chances of occupancy.just no idea how to do this? and i am hitting a brick wall on the internet too.

I would suggest you contact the housing support dept. of your local council. They should be able to tell you what you need to provide and if your house would need any alterations.
