Outstanding Income Tax

Hi there

I received a tax demand a month ago for a large amount of income tax. The letter said they proposed taking it out of my allowance for the year beginning April 2008.

Will this accumulate any interest? I'd ask the Tax Office themselves but I keep getting the message about large call volumes then it cuts me off :rolleyes:

As long as the underpayment of tax is less than £2,000, hmrc are able to make a restriction in your tax code to collect the underpayment. The underpayment will not accumulate interest.
