Energy Conservation Technology

Morning boys and girls,
just to let you know that someone else is on the trail... of energy nirvana :T
Had a phone call yesterday asking if I'm interested in saving up to 50% of my energy bills!
I apparently met their criteria and they would get someone to call me back later.
Hour later the phone duly rang.
Chatty chap on the phone asked all the wishy washy questions and didm't give one thing away!
He mentioned that their "system" has 6 configurable options, with a survey identifying which I would need hence he couldn't, nay, wouldn't say, anything regarding the components or cost because that would be unprofessional as he didn't know how my house/boiler/heating/neighbours dead budgie was set up.
OK says I - imagine the worst case scenario, what's the most expensive system you've installed?
"I Can't answer that, that's confidential", he says, all serious!!!
Right, obviously! I then asked more and he said a magical, mystical word.
I could feel my wallet shaking at the mention of it, almost levitating me off the kitchen floor with a desire to flip open and splurge all my card details down the phone - he said.........
"mumbly mumble thermodynamics mumble" (think Charlie Brown, his teacher!)
Having read similar threads over the past week or so I thought that sounds familiar!
Next thing he's straight in... "we can get a consultant around on Saturday afternoon!"
If we decide to go ahead there would be a mahoosively HUGE discount, if we agreed to be part of a monitoring exercise. They will be able to use as proof of the effectiveness of their systems to people in the local area.
OK says I, whats the company name and what is the company address please?
"Erm, erm well it's energy conservation technology."
OK, let me get my tablet as I want to see what kind of company I'm dealing with...
...can't find any company under that, unless you're american?
"No, we are a proper company."
OK, what's the company website please?
"I've just told" you he says, beginning to sound uncomfortable - I'd obviously taken him somewhere way off script (I hadn't hung up or told him no!)
I told him the 3 words do not make a web address, nor do they return any meaningful results relating to this "company".
Can you give me the actual web address please?
"I've told you", he says again, knowing he's been rumbled!
No, you've given me three words, not a web address.
I'll guess the first bit could be https://www.....?
Hold on he says, puts the phone down and scurries off and I can hear him moving papers around!
"It's etc dot co dot uk."
Erm, no, it's not!
Spell it please?!
"www dot ectec dot co dot uk"
OK, yep coming up now.... ok, Sheffield phone number, oh, site is down for maintenance?
No physical address?
So, you want me to let someone into my home, using the most vague explanation as to why they are there, except I know it's going to cost me money, with a dodgy website that has no actual address? As a company you know you're obliged to display those?
He hung up then?
Anyway, the website looks a bit pants really, and the registrant is Thermal Seal, who is a UK individual but has opted to keep their details private.
Nothing wrong with that, except Thermal Seal is a roofing company that appears to specialise in roofing using refurbed roof tiles? With a phone number that is almost identical to ect?
And I've just had another call from them this morning?!
Obviously the message didn't get through, so I went through the address details again, got him to confirm they are a limited company and then proceeded to berate him for not displaying all the legally required information!!
"So do you think we should not contact you anymore?"
Yes dear, I think that would be for the best?!
My deed for the day is done :rotfl:

What a horrible idea that foam roof sealant is! Surely totally flawed - if a problem develops with one or two tiles or the timbers start rotting because they're encased in foam then you'll have to strip the whole roof off and start again rather than just fixing a tile or two.
Terrible, terrible idea.Solar install June 2022, Bath
