I've never had an increase. Did get a reduction of £50 (10%) a month on the last city centre apartment I lived in.

    How did that come about?

LL was from the Republic, I told them I wanted to move somewhere else. LL asked me to stay, said the hassle of getting an agent to source a tenant and manage the place wasn't worth it. Offered a reduction.

It probably helps that any problems I had with the place (needed to call a plumber in once and a spark) I was able to arrange it myself and pay for it. Some people would have been uncomfortable paying several hundred and waiting a few weeks for the cheque.

You don't ask you don't get. Obviously depends on the area and the property.

Hasn't changed since I moved in in 2007 and I've not set eyes on the landlord since.

I let me property 5 years ago and have never increased rent. Tenant always pays on time and I dont want to jeopardise that.

A good tenant is hard to find.
