Credited into my account

I have no idea where to put this query but here goes.

Yesterday I bought some items online I got some of my delivery but today they seem to of credited my account with what I spent.

I called the relevant customer services and asked if there was a any problems or if all transactions with them had been done. They said everything is fine and all business is done. I did not mention the money (I wanted to see if i'd get away with it - Don't judge me!)

If they realize their mistake can they take the money without my authorization? Can I get away with it?

Thanks.

Call the company back and tell them what has happened, if you dont it will come back and bite you when they realise their mistake and take the money which could be when you don't have it in your account which could result in banking charges.

Don't think they are allowed to go in and take money from your bank. Might work that way if it is a store card.

Think a lot of people would just keep quiet and not spend the money to see what happens. We have all been done the other way when they give you a lower price on a refund when it suits them!

My neighbour had an Asda delivery and they didnt take the money from her bank, a month later the money was taken so it can happen.

Maybe a lot of people would keep quiet and see what happens but equally a lot of people would do the honest thing and contact the company and let them know. In my opinion honesty is the best policy.

You say that we have all been done the other way, I never have?

    Don't judge you? Nope sorry.

So you are getting the item and gaining extra money? Or did they take the money and then credit it back?

Either way you are a thief.

Dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit- it's an offence. Is it worth the aggro?
