Paying off the debts

Well, things have certainly been going right for me for a while, and I need to offer big thanks to the Forums here and Step Change for helping me through my debt!

I've now come to the point of coming into a small amount of money to pay off my debts. I really thought this would be the easy part and the Collections Agencies would be thrilled. Due to work commitments I generally only get to speak to one company per day (due to too many people in the office and long hours!); but this is how this has gone so far:

Fredrickson:

I've emailed and called them and had no response. I finally received a phone call yesterday and had to go through some "security" questions for Data Protection Purposes. I was happy to confirm the account number, postcode, full name etc, but then they started asking for all contact details, full address, work etc. I told them this was not data protection, but data harvesting. The call ended up being terminated. I've now written and asked for a full statement and outstanding balance.

Aktiv Capital:

Superb, the people I spoke to were helpful, courteous and have given me my balance (admittedly £30 more than I thought) and also a settlement figure. They then went on to advise the difference between a settlement and also a full payment, but just really helpful people. This will be paid off today

I'll update with the next load tomorrow, but hopefully I'll be completely debt free by the end of the month!
