  • No need to rush really, just don't want the money we've got to burn a hole in our pocket :rotfl:

I guess I can give them another couple of weeks, but I thought the point of giving them the deadline of 10 days was to get them to reply...will they still take me seriously if I just ignore the fact that the deadline has been and gone?

The letter at the top of the thread, although modified, was taken from several places within this forum and http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/debt_advice.php#6.

Was I wrong to put such a short deadline on it?

Thanx for all the advice so far :D
  • We've finally received a counter offer from one creditor which equates to around 63% which is I thought was pretty good, but unfort. it's still more than we can afford.

I am writting back today thanking them and explaining we can't manage, but can hopefully manage around 45% and see what,if anything, they say.

At least it's a small sign of hope :T

One at a time I guess

Does anyone else have any tips or advice please?

    HI

I was just reading your thread and I don't have anything that can help with the F&F but I was thinking why don't you open a high interest instant access account while you negotiate. I opened an Icesave online in about 10 mins and you can payin directly from your current account. There are many others see Martins article, if you don't have it to hand you can't sqander it. I've got a large sum of money coming and this is exactly why i've opened the account in advance so i can "get rid" of the money as soon as I've got it.
  • Not a bad idea, saddly, with our credit shot to bits we've already had trouble getting bank accounts :(

However, it is something we'll look in to, thanks

You should be able to get a savings only account and any interest is better than wasting it - also you could consider buying some premium bonds with it you don't get interest but could win a small prize once a month and it stops you being able to touch the money without giving notice.
