First steps.....

Well I posted I here 18 months ago re: debts thinking the OH had around 10k. Found out last year it was actaully 25k! This sturck me hard as had loan and CCs behind my back. Been a rough year and few weeks ago found that wasn't the truth was actually 3k more and he still has CC details so what we'd paid off over a year hadn't actually come off at all. After very rough few weeks, almost splitting we are now working together to sort this with the goal of being debt free by Dec 2016! We are paying a lot each month and I have transferred 3 CCs to mine name on 0% interest balances. OH still has loan which we tried to re-finace to lower interest but refused so far. Main aim is to clear the CCS ASAP then tackle loan again. Been lots of tears, lots of shouting, lots of hugging.

I'm a reasonable person and luckily hes never missed a payment so our ratings are both excellent and at the end of the day there are no short cuts for us, its been borrowed and spent and has to be paid back.

So heres to the next 2.5 year of paying it back (sooner if we can) with the future aim of booking DisneyWorld for our boys then looking at extending! the way the months (and years) are rolling by it will be here before we know it.

Onward and upward…...

I know marriage is a partnership, and I really hope yours will survive and thrive.

I can't help wishing that you would protect yourself though; are you sure taking on his debt in your name is wise?

Your OP isn't clear but I think you are saying he wasn't truthful about the extent of the debt - what makes you sure he is honest now, and will be in the future?

Apologies if I have misunderstood, and I wish you well - I just don't see why you couldn't move his debt to 0% in HIS name and still help him repay it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
What did he spend all that money on? Is there anything that he bought that could be sold?
