New job less money

Apologies if this has been asked before! I have been offered a new job as a college lecturer which I quite fancy but Im losing approx £4k a year. is this worth it?

    Worth is in the eye of the enjoyer....

    If you can live on £4k less - and especially if you get more free time/holidays, or it's closer to where you live, or if there's another good reason .... then why not.

    I completely agree with PasturesNew personally I earn less now than I used to but I have greater life and job satisfaction which is all that matters to me :D

    on £36k + company car at mo dropping to £32k initially until I gain teaching qualification then circa £40k

    So from the 4k pay decrease you will be around £2650 worse off when you take away the tax and NI you would have paid on this.
