When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning :D me again! Happy hump day to all :T This week is speeding by, which means we're almost at the weekend & it's an extra long one :T Hope everyone's week is going well

Things for today:

* check bank
* read Martin's news letter
* going to a meeting this morning then working at home for the rest of the day. I save about 30 miles of driving & an hour by working at home :)
* call 2 dds and switch accounts
* water seedlings/plants
* all meals from stores
* as am working at home will cook roast this afternoon
* make apple crumble to use up apples
* take dyson apart and see if it needs new filters - suction not great. Did a search and discovered it could be filters, blockage or belt broken, seems easy enough to fix!
* dgd coming for the night, go to the park when she gets here
* hang up washing
* set up payment for cc x2

That's all I need to do! Have a lovely day everyx

    • Washing on overnight tarriff
    • At work - hoping for some useful negotiations around training opportunities etc
    • A bit of listing on ebay
    • Must deliver payment for person who helped me out reeently
    • collect parcel whilst in town for work!
    • FPL, swagbucks and nectar adpoints - been neglecting these recently
    • Get quote for tap and for gas check
    • Go through new bank acc stuff with DD
    • Do some exercise this afternoon / evening

    Morning all!

    Thanks for starting us off DNMS, haven't posted for a while but after last night where I seriously considered spending a lot of money on a new computer to replace my perfectly working one, I think I need to come back!!

    Today I will:
    Check banks
    Check CC back to 0.
    Check TCB
    Update spends spreadsheet
    Breakfast and tea from stores
    Lunch on expenses, get as much as I can to fill me up to save having proper tea!
    Day of revision at college, have bought my travel mug and a couple of teabags and will use their hot water boiler rather than 30p/time vending machine
    Be productive tonight and get some ebay listings ready for next free posting weekend
    NSD (other than lunch which will be reclaimed)
    Email work regarding a lift on Friday to save petrol money

    Think that's it for now... have a great day all!

    Afternoon all,
    Birthday weekend over, back to some money saving, especially if we are to have a hope of paying the bathroom bill when it's due.
    So, today's small positive things:
    *Did a tiny meal plan till the weekend & shopped for the few things required. Updated grocery budget - good start. Have reduced grocery budget by £50 this month to make up for Easter overspend.
    *Used 2 x 50p off vouchers on some chocolate for the present box.
    *Free coffee at Waitrose ('My Waitrose' card) ...also free food magazine & free Guardian.
    *Swapped various bits of funds around to balance the books after our weekend away. Did the maths about 5 times as was surprised to find we have sufficient surplus in our Holiday Piggy to cover eating out expenditure (Birthday meal out) so nice not to have to take it out of our bank account.
    *Warm day after an iffy start, so all laundry drying nicely outside on the line.
    *mr f announced he no longer needs to buy a new satnav. His current one is ancient (small dinosaur in there turning a handle) but on our trip this weekend, he tested out the function on his smartphone & it was great. He also tested how much of his data it used.....apparently not much at all, so no new sat nav money to find (I never use one myself, prefer a map!)
    *Paid a cheque into the bank.
    *Did a very few surveys (until I kind of lost the will to live).
    *Finally finished knitting socks for friend's birthday. Cast on another pair for present box.
    *Prepped & soaked all the ingredients for making chutney tomorrow & delved into my recycled jar stash so I've got something to put it in.
    *Dinner as per meal plans - home made lamb madras that I made from Easter lamb leftovers the other week.
    *Chucked another bucket of kitchen scraps into runner bean trench.
    *mr f gave me a bit of a tutorial on 'Blogger' as I finally intend to get around to starting a blog over the next week. Free entertainment as I like writing.
    OK, must get a move on......time to go down to the greenhouse & see what the veggies are up to.
    Hope everyone seeing some sunshine today,
    f x (ziggy - I enjoyed 'Gone girl'....couldn't put it down because I knew there was going to be a twist of some kind lurking & I was trying to guess what it would be. I haven't read any of her others though. At the moment, I'm reading 'Dominion' by CJ Samson, which I'm enjoying & I'm going to order a copy for my Dad for the present box) x

  • Good evening all!
    Internet went down at work today so couldn't post at lunchtime and have been busy walking dogs, cooking, sorting out laundry and so on since I got home.
    Note the new signature (£728.40 shaved off the debt total this month - am so pleased - could not have achieved this without support from this forum so big thanks to all).
    Today - packed lunches for all, evening meal = veggie bake -from veggies bought last week (time flies!). Updated spreadsheet, signature and planned for next month.
    Talked to OH about budget (his eyes still glaze over when I mention this subject but I am NOT giving up).
    Think that's about it. Off to watch Masterchef - sad but true.
    Don't give up on that Dyson DNMS - ours is sucking the carpet off the floor after new filters and brush installed (OH does have some good points :)).
    Best wishes to all.

  • Hi everyone, belated birthday wishes to Foxgloves, I hope you had a good weekend. Not as productive as I'd hoped today, work went crazy then there was a family situation to deal with. But in middle of it all my DM did help out with my ironing, so I kept on track with one out of many, many tasks!
