3 for 2 or buy one get on for half price

Please can anyone help I want to buy paint but I am not sure which shop to buy it from because one shop is offering buy one get the second for half price, while the other shop is doing 3 for 2. Please can any one help me work out which is cheaper. I do need more than one paint, I am so confused.

Well it depends on how many tins you want and the price of paint at each shop.

Well you'd get a 25% reduction on buy one get one half price. And a 33% reduction on 3 for 2. So the latter is the better offer. Assuming of course that all tins of paint are the same price, and that they're the same price between stores. And assuming you'll actually need three (or multiple of three) tins.

If you need 3 tins of paint and the tins are all priced the same amount in each shop then the cost of 3 tins in each shop is exactly the same!! You pay for 2!
