Changing career to postman

Hi

My husband has just got a new job as a postman in Colchester, can any one tell me what the pay is like? It's a 39hr contract.

We will be relocating from London to Colchester and already know rent is going to be far cheaper than what we are paying now.

Just need some other perspectives. We have spoken at length about it.

Cheers

Has he received his appointment letter and statement of particulars yet, as the rate of pay will be documented on that.

The figures below are only a guide. Actual pay rates may vary, depending on:
    • where you work
    • the size of the company or organisation you work for
    • the demand for the job.
Starting pay for Royal Mail postal workers is £266.80 a week at 17 years old and £343.20 a week at age 18 and above. Subject to satisfactory performance, pay can increase at 6 and 12 months after starting. Higher rates may be paid in different parts of the UK. (Figures based on a 40-hour week.)
