My partner has been signed of work until they have a hospital consultation, their doctor has told them that they cannot work until this has been done and the results received. Given the nature of the situation they may not be able to return to work at all.
They are currently getting SSP at £87.55 a week, they have no occupational sick pay. I work 30 hours a week and get just over £800 a month. Our bills are, rent £550, Utilities £140, Council Tax, £135, It costs me £80 to get to work, We are in an IVA and our payments are £126 a month This leaves us around £120 a month for two people to cover all other expenses.
I have checked using the benefits entitlement section and it reckons that we are entitled to £116....... a year!
Surely this cannot be right, any advice is much appreciated.

£36k, but my hours have reduced and my pay has also been restructured, at the moment we're only getting about £900 a month so for this year we're looking at £12k!0

I'd see if you can get the IVA reduced on a temporary basis. That would increase the amount you have left over significantly.0
