I share my delightful first-hand experience of teaching and teachers in Asia and it's a "tirade"? There was even a hot job tip in there for you!

And I do think you should go for it, top_drawer. Taking a stand and saying that you'll refuse to teach English because your English isn't very good won't change anything, and the school will just hire someone else who may be even worse! (At least, that's how I always justified it to myself!)

It will most likely be one of the best things you've ever done, and I can't imagine you'll look back on it with regret.

But if you already think a dozen people online pointing out just some of your English mistakes is "nasty", you might not be thick-skinned enough to take it in person. One teacher I knew started losing his temper and physically dragging students out of the classroom when they corrected his English.

One question is: are we helping you with your apostrophes (and later with your commas and grammar) just so that you can land the job, or will you be continuing to improve on your English for the duration of your stay out there?

(Does anyone remember the episode of The Simpsons where Marge starts teaching piano lessons, but has to take piano lessons in order to do so? "I just have to stay one lesson ahead of the kid!" - the theory works for me!)
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
