Full time job and additional casual work. Tax question

borderline

Hi,
I have a (low paid) full time job so I’ve taken an additional casual job to work two or 3 days a month somewhere else.
How this will affect my tax code if my additional job it’s only when they need me and not regular work?
Until now I was on tax code was 944L
does my current full time employer needs to know that I’m taking on an additional job?

Usually taxed at either 20% or 25% for an additional job. HMRC website will tell you.0

If your first job uses up your personal allowance.
OP.
when you say low paid do you also mean part time? <30hrs(ish)?0 -
Hi, You will presumably have a tax code of 1000L in your main job and of BR at your second job. This means your full personal allowance is given to your first job and all money earned in your second job will be taxed at 20%.
It may not be that during the full tax year you do actually earn more than £10,000 (as you say that it is low paid I am presuming you are part time etc.) in which case any over paid tax you would be able to claim back after the end of the tax year, April 2015.
However, it may be that if you contact HMRC they may split your personal allowance over the two jobs, depending on what you actually earn etc. In which case they will amend your tax codes so it may be that you pay no tax on either job. Obviously this does depend on how much you are earning and are likely to earn over the year. I am also not sure as to what proof they may want from you in terms of deciding your tax codes to ensure you don't under pay tax.0 -
When I did similar I called the tax office because I wanted to swap the codes over and I opted to put the full code on the main job and BR on the casual job. But they would have let me do any sort of split coding between the jobs. They changed changed things there and then and sent coding letters to my employers within a few days.0

no, it's a full time job my main job, it's just that is low wages, that's why I need to earn extra money doing this other occasional job0
