Hi I rang HRMC as I had not received a coding notice. Anxious as I also received the state pension and work full time. I was advised they no longer send out. How can I check that it is correct?
many thanks
PS I've had to re-register but have posted many times before but not lately - couldn't remember pass word (!) and it wouldn't accept the string of numbers I entered 3 times - so started all over again.
many thanks

Just ring up again ask for a copy of your current 2014/15 P2 Coding Notice(s) to be sent out to you.
Your coding notice for your employment (just one ?) should have your State Pension as a Source of income which will be reflected in your allowance in that employment and the code applied.

If the situation is the same this year as it was last year, then technically you may not need a new notice of coding, because your employer should be able to work out what to do.
But if you only started receiving your state pension part way through last tax year then you would need to check that you are paying the right amount of tax, as it's often difficult to get it right first time in the first year.
What was your tax code at the end of last year, and what is it this year?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Although the employer will know the increase in code number due to the increase in personal allowance, there is no way it would know the increase in pension whether it had been received for all or part of last year.
The OP should ring HMRC and forcefully demand a P2 since it is the official line that it is the taxpayer who is responsible for checking his or her tax code. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
Thanks for responding but that's why I rang - to ask for my p2 as I hadn't received it . The chap said they didn't send out anymore! I work full time and receive my state pension . Very surprised not to have go t one.
If HMRC have had no reason to change your tax code due to circumstances then you or employer will not receive notification of your "new" tax code from April 6th. Your employer will carry forward your previous code and add 56 to it due to the additional £560 Personal allowance this year.
Doesn't stop you asking for your current 2014/15 P2 to be sent out to you though.
Perhaps a misunderstanding by whoever you were speaking to ?
Aside from the Personal Allowance increase on the assumption your State Pension will have increased though that would effect your allowances on your coding with your employer and/or other Pension income.

If the tax code needs to change for reasons other than the personal allowance increase then there should be a notice of coding. Your next payslip should say what it is anyway
If it's just the increase in personal allowance then I wouldn't expect a coding notice0 -

Yep, I would agree with that TBH
Reworded perhaps I should have said something along the lines...."I'll take a guess that perhaps your State Pension increased slightly and that would......."

Hello All - many thanks for your responses - sorry for my tardiness in not replying and thank you before but I managed to lock myself out of the forum and despite lots of requests to Admin/contact us/faq etc failed to get back in. anyway I have now heard back from HRMC (email) to say they are sending me a P2 so I will await to see what comes. PS Does anyone know whether this 'new' account can still be linked to my 2 star 'old' registered account or will I be a NewBe again for a while ?? thanks0
