That is if you trust Amercan grammar. A wriggly line means nothing.

A "clinical" CV, as the above poster championed, would be firmly at top of the grey and uninspiring pile.

If I was reading CVs, I would be looking for a degree of character, spoil and charisma. The above example would fail in that regard.

You can set your word package to English grammar & spelling! And you don't have to accept the grammatical suggestion - but you might want to look at it. ;)

And if you're referring to me as 'the above example', I certainly didn't advocate a clinical approach, I just gave some tips on the things I consider important, not an exhaustive list. :)

Tips are useful, but often they intend to make all CVs sound the same by applying the same old corporate drabness expected from a linked in profile. Sometimes a personal bent or twist in the design or wording of your CV can work wonders.

And quite often these wriggly lines remain in your document even after applying the correct grammar.

This is a good reason in itself to turn it off.

Thank you, that's helpful. I suspect I'm going to need all the luck I can get.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I can see that somehow my well intentioned tips have upset you and you are going to pick points out that I haven't necessarily covered. Elsien asked for tips, and that's what I have given - from a personal point of view based on my own personal experience of applying for jobs and also of recruiting for posts. I certainly do not want to read job applications that all sound the same or are drab, far from it, which is why I suggested that you could use a template for ideas and adapt to suit.

Like I say, my tips were a few things off the top of my head and not an exhaustive list.

Good luck with your job hunt Elsien and look on it as a new opportunity - you never know what might be just around the corner!
