Court Interest Charges

Hiya all,

My friend has a debt of £5000 to an individual ( a very long story )

Anyway it went to court in 2012 and because of circumstances this has not been paid

In Jan 2014 he received correspondence from the individual asking for the £5000 for which she agreed to do by the end of March which was agreed - via email

However, at the end of March ( before this date ) she came home to find a note from a baliff with varying charges on them. Now I know that baliffs can charge fees but one of the charges was for an interest payment of £764 from the date it has gone to court

So my question is whether this is allowed if there has been no mention of interest charges preceding this? If it is allowed does the interest have to be set at a certain level?

Many thanks
