Coming out of debt

Hi All - I wondered if you could answer a query?
I have just under £2k left on my step change plan and I've just been left a little money in a will. This will cover the entire amount so I'll be able to finally be debt free!
my question is, is it worth contacting each company directly (7 in total) and asking them for a settlement figure, or would it be better to ask Step Change to do this on my behalf?
Anyway, all help gratefully received - and lastly a huge thank you to all on these boards for helping me through a journey. Some fantastic people on these boards, and the stories of everyone's journey has been a great help.
Lastly, my whole perception to money has changed over the past few years!!

You could put a figure to them. This factsheet should help
Full and final settlement offers
The sample calculation works on a 40% settlement offer. That's not a bad place to start as you seem to have relatively small debts0 -
Do it yourself by all means, see if you can negotiate a full and final settlement for each account, they can only say no after all, get everything in writing though if they do accept a lesser amount, worth a punt as they say !!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
