Bank of Scotland question

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place, apologies if I'm not.

I just wondered if anyone knew if the bank of scotland was one of those banks that let you pay in money (and not charge) on the day a direct debit went out. I messed up a deposit in my bank other account so am unable to transfer the money over to the BOS until monday (but direct debit will have gone out by the time I do that).

Managed to get some money together, but I'm still going to be 20p short.

Thanks in advance.

  • Afraid not - it's likely your DD will bounce. HBoS update their systems circa 12 - 2am tonight. Funds for your DD will already have been earmarked.

  • Thank you. Just wondered. Shall have to troop to tesco's and put some money in my account to transfer over then (was trying to save myself a one hour round trip to big tescos, since they don't accept deposits in the small one opposite my house anymore).

    Thank for your help :)

Bank of Scotland is part of Halifax group, they may allow the DD to go out if only 20p short, otherwise the originator will just try again in ten days time, you will be charged £1 a day for every day you are in an unauthorised overdraught, so the quicker you can transfer money in the less you will be charged.

BOS charge £1 per day for authorised overdraft and £5 per day on unauthorised. (For my account anyway)

But my terms and conditions state that if I do go overdrawn and credit the balance on the same day, then there won't be charges.
Needless to say, I don't go overdrawn.
