I would be amazed if HMRC could instruct your employer to put you on a NT tax code in 3 days.

(You went BR on 3rd April, new tax year started 6th April).

So dont be surprised if you now get a NIL tax code shortly.

You went BR in the previous tax year, so HMRC should not put you on a NT code for this one.

However, HMRC do not have a great record of applying those codes properly, so keep an eye on it.

thanks for your replys so if i get NT do i point out my dates to them or just accept it for what it is, personally i think its less hassle if i just pay my tax in the regular way

and I do realise that hmrc would not have time to instruct my employer to apply a NT thats the reason i asked the question.

Don't accept it, just contact them and tell them they have it wrong, if they do indeed get it wrong. They'll sort it.
