I know I don't post much, but am looking for some ideas. I've been given a sum of money kind of through work (too complicated to explain ins and outs!).

Basically I have around £600 to spend on a family holiday in the uk for when I'm feeling better after my op. It's not time bound, so we can go whenever we like, but unfortunately I am stuck with school holidays (ds is doing gcse's so finishes early but dd is year below and doesn't).

I have absolutely no idea where to go. It has to be mainland uk. Am just looking for some ideas really. Am still in shock about being nominated to receive the money. Not sure whether to go early summer (might consider taking dd out very last week as they don't do much) or perhaps look at October half term.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful!

Devon and Cornwall are both very nice with their own attributes :)

The welsh coast is very nice too, as is Weymouth

Where in the uk are you?

Oh tiger how awful :( DD had croup as a tiny baby and it wasn't nice. I remember having to fill the bath up with hot water to get the room all steamy because the steam really helped her breathing and cough.
I hope her infection clears up soon and I hope you manage to grab a few zzzzzzs somewhere. Is your mum still with you?
The doc said about the steam and so I'll do that this morning. Thanks. Yes she is but heading home this afternoon. She stayed an extra 5 days as it is.. She has said she will stay longer but I'm only back in work Tuesday now so I told her it's fine. Mum is such an :A - she's seriously like Mary poppins :D
Mine don't even bother with breakfast, they rarely emerge from their pits before 11 ish on a weekend, then ask what's for brunch! :rotfl:
Ooh, I'm not wishing time away but I'll look forward to that.. Then reminisce and wish the kids were this age again :rotfl:

Shouldn't complain... DS2 let me have a lie in until 6.30 this morning :) Half an hour longer than usual. We've run out of milk so they're eating dry Cheerios :o Means I can't have my morning cuppa though

Oh no, poor Tigercub :( and poor you :( Croup is nasty. I called the ambulance out one night for DS1 as his breathing got really laboured, scary stuff. I hope Tigercub's medicine helps her feel better soon
Thanks Logie bear :D no morning cuppa  that's seriously hard. I always have two cups in the morning then I go on to coffee :D

I'm in northampton. There is me, ds16 and dd15. They will also pay fuel or train fares which is great.

I was thinking wales as whenever I've been I really like it. WE normally camp though!

I guess I'm looking for somewhere where there is plenty to do whatever the weather, I don't want 2 moaning teenagers on my hands when we've been lucky enough to be given this opportunity!

What a lovely gift :) We have stayed on the Yorkshire coast for our last 2 breaks and are heading back to the same holiday park again next month.
Previously we booked via Hoseasons but this time we have gone via Holiday Lettings via tripadvisor and booked directly with the owner to get a far better deal.
