    Is tablet a fudge type thing? I'm sure I've had some but can't think where from...

    Yes it is bit a bit more hard and gritty. it actually hurts my teeth just thinking about it now :o but I loved it as a kid. Your granny always had to make tablet to sell at a school event. As I remember it's (lots of) sugar, butter and condensed milk......think of the calories in that :eek:
    My grans was a whole 2lb bag of sugar, half a pound of butter and a tin of evaporated milk and vanilla essence. It was ready after it boiled and you chucked some in a cup of cold water and it formed a ball.

    :eek::eek:get me posting recipes :D:rotfl:

    No one can dislike anyone as know very little about anyone on here unless you meet in RL purely just an internet forum!
  • See if you go further North to Aberdeen you can treat yourself to the mythical Buttery, some say they are made by blind virgins weaved with gold & sapphire & weigh half a small elephant but melt in you're mouth like quavers. They're liars

    It's basically a heap of butter, lard & flour combined & baked but it is the best Scottish secret & is amazing heated with jam on top
