Solar panels - advice needed

probably best to repost on the
'energy board'
or the 'green and ethical' board0 -
One little word of warning - I would never buy a house with these panels on them unless they were free of any lien on them.
What you might gain on your energy bills you might lose on the value of your property.
Just my 2p worth.0 -
On the other hand I'd definitely prefer to buy a house with solar panels, and if they were not fitted I'd look to reduce my offer in order to pay for them. That fact that they are on the Green Deal doesn't matter to me, the energy saving does. Who wants to buy an inefficient house that is going to cost a fortune to run?
Obviously make sure you have insulation and double glazing in too.0 -

you must be a politician0 -
A mate of mine bitterly regrets spending £18 grand on solar panels. We live in similar sized houses, both occupied by two pensioners, and his energy bills are not markedly lower than mine.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

They must be either gold-plated or installed a few years ago. Assuming the latter, (s)he should be making close to £2000 per year in FiT payments, in addition to any saving on the electricity bill. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

They were installed three years ago but I don't think he's making anything like £2000 a year in feed in tariffs. I'll ask him.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

Maybe they are broken? An £18,000 system would be huge, he should be raking it in. Perhaps he got massively ripped off or something.0
