What are Twinks? Cupcake novice!

Good morning everyone!

I am intrigued to know what Twinks are. I have seen lots of people mention them but have no idea what they are. I guess they are some kind of snack/treat. If anyone could give me a clue and ideally a recipe I would really appreciate it!

I'm just getting into cupcakes, I have made fairy cakes before but would like to start doing cupcakes with different flavours and pretty decorating etc. I have no idea really where to start. Any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Looking forward to a nice weekend at home doing proper housewife/mummy things!

Hello meema - they're a delicious, and very simple to make, version of a 'home-made hobnob-style biscuit' and was originally devised and posted by 'Twink' quite a long time ago.

Beware - once sampled, the sniff of them baking can bring visitors arriving in their droves .................... at least it does in MY house :rotfl:!

Upon reading the title, I thought of all three suggestions above. I guess that says more about me than I care to admit :rotfl:

Ps I can vouch for Twinks Hobnobs, in fact I might make some more this afternoon, we are seriously lacking in sweet treats!

I can vouch for Twinks hobnobs too. I made them for the first time the other day and they were gorgeous

this is the recipe i use
8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls and put on greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork, 180oc for 15 mins, cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown


8ozs = 225 grams

If you go to the link in Seakay's post, Twink's original recipe is Post Number 4. The joy of that thread is that almost everything that could be substituted for any of the ingredients has been tried, tested and posted. They're absolutely the easiest biscuits to make and it's the way I use up tasteless muesli, any dregs of bags of sugar, or anything else that's hanging around in the kitchen that goes into any buscuit. It is the most forgiving recipe ever.

Twinks are very nice. I freeze them in batches, seperated with greaseproof paper. Some would say it stops you scoffing the lot. :rotfl:
