Default Query

I have just checked my credit reports with Equifax and Experian as a number of old defaults were due to have dropped off.

There is now a default on my credit record from Motormile Finance. It states it is for a payday loan, amount £195. Start date 21/07/2008 and default date 01/12/2012. The loan is linked to an address I have not lived at since 2009. I have never heard of Motormile Finance.

I have no clue about this debt at all. I had a DMP which was paid off and everything was included in that (or so I thought).

If by any chance it turns out I do owe the money - although I think it unlikely - then surely the default date should be much earlier than 2012? I went into a DMP and stopped paying literally everything in late 2008 / early 2009. I have certainly not made any payments to Motormile Finance in the last six years.

Is anyone able to offer any advice as to what I should do?

many thanks in advance

Write to them, stating that you have no knowledge of the debt they are reporting on your account and to remove it. Send signed for.

If they prove its yours, complain to change the date.

They are a DCA that deals with payday loans.

Don't give them your phone number.

Never, ever, phone these clowns or give them any contact details, they will hound you forever, they have taken up the mantle from 1st credit as the worst DCA in the country for flouting rules and regs, they ignore letters and emails, and make all kinds of unsubstantiated threats (lovely people) just be very carful when dealing with them.
