please help with suggestions for commission payments

Hi.
I currently work in a sales role and get paid a basic plus commissions

My employer has asked if for the next tax year I want to be paid the commission element as a mileage claim, hence avoiding paying Tax or NI on this.

Are there any other benefits in doing this or anything I should be wary of.
Or any alternatives ?

In the last tax year due to commission amounts varying my tax code was an M1 one.
