How do I find a whole of marker mortgage broker?

Hello

My husband and I sold our main home in January and are currently living in our second home which was bought on a BTL mortgage and was rented out (we have permission from our lender).

We want to stay permanently so need to remortgage to a residential mortgage. We have an appointment booked to see our bank (Santander) in June - couldn't get in any quicker but from reading posts on here I'm thinking I might feel more comfortable having the support and guidance of an independent broker.

Is there a register or list of approved / accredited brokers I can go to to find someone local to me?

Thanks!

https://www.unbiased.co.uk, switching off the "sponsored ads only" option, so you get a full list for your area.

Remember this is just a list and doesn't confirm experience or capability. Best to ask friends, family and work colleagues if they can recommend a broker/adviser.

If you are forced to use "unbiased" talk to at least three brokers before making your decision.

For anything in life i tend to just search google.

As of tomorrow there will be no such thing as "whole of market" - although most websites will still be geared up towards that. More upheaval from mmr.

TBH we really need a one-stop way for people to find reliable mortgage advice. However, Google is "bent" by those who pay and manipulate the analytics (IIRC?) and any recommendations site would be dominated by the larger players and corporates who would get shills to sing their praises and raise their rankings.

I can't work out a solution to this.

Yes, I only suggest unbiased as it appears the lesser of the evils and I can't think of anything better.

I'm sure (at the time) "Carrington Carr" brokers and the advisors at national chain estate agencies got/get referrals as the client does not necessarily know good advice from their elbow...

The problem is, I am brilliant, and so are you, but the customer does not know until they have used us.

The problem with all service industries.
