Barclays to HSBC lost CHAPS transfer

Please can anyone let me know how long it should take for Barclays bank to trace a CHAPS transfer to my HSBC account? I have recently re-mortgaged my house and Barclays have said they have transferred the money by CHAPS to the correct sort code and account number but have used an incorrect surname. My bank have said they have no record of a CHAPS transfer on my account and nothing in their suspension account. Since then Barclays have sent me a letter saying my repayments are starting even though I haven't received the money. I have put in a complaint but they say it can take 2 weeks to get back to me.
